SPAM Reporting Information

SPAM calls are a growing problem, and as carriers and institutions work to help the customer experience in reducing bad calls, there are sometimes when a number is treated incorrectly as SPAM.

Calls being treated as SPAM is a decision determined by the receiving side of the call. This can be a complicated and varied process using fancy algorithms, or something as basic as just number matching. Each carrier uses their own process so it can be that the same number is treated differently across different carriers.

If you find that you are receiving a call from another number on a Dobson phone service, and Dobson is treating that number incorrectly as SPAM, you can contact our NOC with the call information, and we can work to correct that treatment. Again, this would be for incoming calls to your Dobson line.

If you are making outbound calls from your Dobson line, and the carrier on the far end is flagging your number as SPAM, then this is a situation that will need to be resolved with the receiving carrier, which in most cases is probably a cell phone carrier.  Some of the quickest corrections have been when people receiving the calls on their AT&T cell phones, for instance, use the AT&T APP, and mark the call as NOT SPAM. That can be the hardest solution to make happen since it requires the other person to take the action.

Because getting it wrong is common, there are some websites where you can register your number to help cell phone carriers, and others, improve the treatment of the calls.

“If an AT&T, T-Mobile, or Verizon cell phone marks the call as a robocall, then you can contact https://www.freecallerregistry.com”.  This one site does support services for various carriers, so it would be a good place to start.

There are others that can be used if you find a narrower situation applying to your number.
